Hauptstrasse 113 (formerly the hotel Badischer Hof)
The building used by the Volksbank on the corner of Hauptstrasse
and Schiffgasse was once the hotel Badischer Hof. After opening
in 1780, it was long regarded as the poshest place to stay
in Heidelberg. Its guests included such prominent individuals
as King Ludwig I of Bavaria. The Heidelberg Assembly was also
held in the Badischer Hof on March 5, 1848 one of the
events that led to the election of Germans first parliament
at St. Pauls Church in Frankfurt.
