Behind the Friedrichsbau is the first new university building
for the sciences that was built in the 19th century. Designed
by Heinrich Hübsch, it was constructed be-tween 1847
and 1849 to house the anatomy and zoology departments. This
two-story institute building with two wings features a broad
center projection in front. Its conspicuous architectural
features also include the three flat segmented arches over
the arcades.
