View larger size Sebastian Münster Fountain The fountain in the middle of the square is dedicated to humanist and cosmographer Sebastian Münster (1488-1552), who spent several years in a Franciscan monastery (barefoot monastery) here in the early 16th century. Michael Schoenholtz created the fountain in 1978, when Karl’s Square was being redone to install an underground parking garage beneath it.
